On 18 June 2015, Malaysia's state-owned Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) took over 1Malaysia Development Berhad's (1MDB) 70% stake in Track 3B – a 2000 MW greenfield coal-fired project. Cabinet approved the move without issuing an open tender to hasten the delivery of the already delayed project. With this award, TNB now accounts to 5000 MW of the 6000 MW large scale projects that has been awarded for construction by 2020.
