Report summary

Gas will retain its position as the biggest power supplier in Turkey until 2020 competing with coal at the margin. From 2020 to 2025 coal will overtake gas driven by strong capacity growth and high oil-indexed gas prices. In the long term strong growth in renewable capacity and the introduction of nuclear power will diminish the supply share of established fuels. Government policy drives many of these developments with incentives for coal and renewable development.
