Vietnam power markets long-term summary 2015

Report summary

The revision of Power Development Plan (PDP) revision has been delayed further to mid-2016 as several gas-fired plants are being considered as coal replacements. This includes the 1,600MW Kien Giang plant in Southwest Vietnam and the 3,000MW LNG-fired Son My plant in Southeast Vietnam.  Meanwhile PVPower has progressed with the development of  two coal plants in Southeast Vietnam- Long Phu1 and Song Hau 1. We expect a 45% of incremental power capacity in Vietnam to come mainly from coal by 2030.
