Vietnam power markets long-term summary H2 2014

Vietnam power markets long-term summary H2 2014

Report summary

Power demand growth in Vietnam has averaged at 13% since 2000 – the highest in South Eastern Asia. This high demand growth is expected to continue with a CAGR of close to 9% until 2020. However, project developments have not been able to keep pace with the demand growth particularly in South Vietnam. This has triggered Prime Minister’s Decision 2414/QD-TTg that allows special mechanisms to fast-track power projects to alleviate power shortages by 2020.
