WECC power markets short-term outlook October 2016

WECC power markets short-term outlook October 2016

Report summary

Over the previous month, stronger loads have been able to offset increased wind output in a number of markets in terms of supporting thermal generation balances.  Despite stronger wind output in SPP during this period, gas generation balances have managed an increase.  In MISO, as wind output has been lower over the previous month gas generation has been markedly higher.  Still, increasing renewable generation will effectively absorb growth in power demand in 2017.
