Report summary

The Bosnia and Herzegovina market continues to benefit from the ongoing modernisation of its sole refinery - Bosankski Brod - and the national fuel retail network. Oil product prices are unregulated in B&H but the country has suffered from high fuel prices, supply shortages and fuel tax evasion in the past. The return of domestic refinery production since 2008 brought much-needed balance and stability to the market. The Bosnian partition into two politically autonomous entities saw the emergence of two main players in the oil distribution market: Energopetrol for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Optima Group for Republika Srpska.
