Greece downstream oil long-term outlook 2016

Greece downstream oil long-term outlook 2016

Report summary

Greece remains besieged by economic problems. Despite the economic and fiscal reforms put in place after 2011 to help bring stability in, the financial condition of the country further deteriorated in 2015 following continuous political turbulence and the capital controls imposed on the Greek banking system. The economy is not expected to make any significant recovery until the middle of the next decade. With the outlook for the oil industry tied to the country's economic future, we expect to see a continued decline in oil products demand. Hellenic Petroleum managed to strengthen even more its leading position in the market whereas other companies scaled down. Jetoil-Mamidakis filed for creditors' protection in July 2016.
