The Greek downstream oil market is dominated by the two domestic refiners, HELLENiQ Energy and Motor Oil Hellas. Together they supply the majority of the inland wholesale market and almost two-thirds of the retail market through their various marketing arms. Prices and retail margins are higher than the European average, with prices being typically even higher on the islands due to the additional distribution costs.
