Oil product supply from Norway’s two refineries exceeds domestic demand, making Norway net exporter of refined product. The local retail fuels market is highly-concentrated, with the top four companies supplying over 90% of demand. There are no longer any integrated refining and fuels marketing players in Norway since ExxonMobil sold its retail network. Competition for volumes will get tighter as demand for road transportation fuels has entered structural decline. Going forward there will even greater emphasis on forecourt diversification through the expansion of non-fuel services at full-service stations. At unmanned sites, there will be an increased drive to offer the most aggressive price discounting and streamline the supply value chain.
