Commodity Market Report
Poland downstream oil long-term outlook
Report summary
Poland is the largest market for oil products in the CEE region and is one of the few remaining growth markets in Europe. Although the downstream sector is fully liberalised, it is dominated by the national oil company PKN ORLEN, which recently acquired the other Polish refiner, Grupa LOTOS. Even though the combined entity needed to divest a 30% stake in Gdansk refinery and hundreds of service stations, it still controls the vast majority of refining capacity and, by far, the largest retail network.
