Commodity Market Report
Slovakia downstream oil long-term outlook
Report summary
Although the Slovakian oil products market is fully liberalised, it remains dominated by Slovnaft. The country's sole refiner, which is owned by MOL, commands a great deal of influence over the local wholesale market. Slovakia is a net exporter with 70% of domestically refined products being sent abroad. OMV, Shell and more recently PKN ORLEN also compete in the Slovakian fuels market. Their fuels marketing businesses are supported by refining activities in neighbouring Austria and Czech Republic.
