The Beetaloo Basin has received interest from some larger, experienced unconventional oil operators like Hess, however recent activity suggests commericalising the play could more challenging that initially thought. Regional geology appears favourable for unconventional plays nonetheless. TOC is high and the shale beds have extensive net pay (up to 175 metres). Additionally, the shale formations span nearly the entire basin. The Beetaloo Basin covers 35,600km2 (8.8 million acres).
