Bowland-Hodder tight gas unconventional play

Report summary

The UK has large potential for unconventional gas, centred around the Midlands in the Bowland-Hodder Carboniferous units. This report considers the potential of production of gas from low porosity sandstones. The nascent UK unconventional industry has had to overcome many hurdles in the last few years due to a hydraulic fracturing programme being cut short in 2011 as a result of induced seismic activity. This event was disastrous. As of 2017, things are looking up.
