Fort Worth Basin - US Gulf Coast

Fort Worth Basin - US Gulf Coast

Report summary

The Fort Worth Basin is located in north-central Texas and is home to the Barnett Shale, the first successfully developed commercial shale. The Barnett is one of the most prolific unconventional plays and many completion technologies were pioneered in the play. The basin has a long history of conventional oil and gas production from many of its shallower formations. Oil shows were first recorded in the mid-1800s, and the first commercialised production began in the 1870s.
