France tight gas unconventional concept play
Report summary
The most significant commercial issue for unconventional gas development in France is the government's current ban on hydraulic fracturing. In June 2011, the French legislature passed a law banning the use of hydraulic fracturing techniques throughout the entire country, which effectively suspended all exploration activity. In mid-2012, seven exploration permits to explore unconventional areas were officially rejected as well.
