Lithuania shale gas unconventional concept play
Report summary
Lithuania's unconventional potential has attracted international attention since October 2012, when Chevron acquired a 50% stake in Lithuanian company LL Investicijos. In 2012, the country's first shale gas exploration licences were offered via a competitive tender process. Chevron bid for the 1,800 square kilometre Silute-Taurage block, however the award process was delayed as a result of public environmental concerns over shale gas exploration.
