Transylvania tight gas unconventional concept play
Report summary
Romania is a mature producer with a well-established upstream industry. However, production is falling, and unconventional gas is being considered as a viable alternative to stem decline. It is thought that there is tight gas potential in the Transylvania basin, located in deep source rocks found beneath the Badenian salt horizons. However, the true extent of this potential is unknown, as the play is yet to be explored.
