Report summary
There are two regions with shale gas and oil potential in west Ukraine. In the north, the main target will be the Paleozoic shales in the Lviv Basin, deposited on the western margin of the East European Craton. This is the same horizon being targeted in Poland. The second region, to the southwest incorporates the Carpathian Foredeep and the Carpathian flysch nappe where multiple shale targets exist.
