The Utica Shale is a three-phase play spanning central and eastern Ohio and parts of western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Current development is focused in eastern Ohio, where operators are targeting the rich-gas window. A sub-member of the lower Utica interval, the Point Pleasant Formation, is the primary drilling target.
