ADCO Contract Area

ADCO Contract Area

Report summary

The ADCO contract area covers Abu Dhabi's onshore and near-shore areas. The acreage holds a number of discoveries that produce from giant Cretaceous carbonates. The fields are located predominantly onshore to the southeast of Abu Dhabi city within a desert landscape of sand plains, dunes and gravel pavement bordering Saudi Arabia. The acreage occupies almost a third of Abu Dhabi's territory and is managed as four discrete geographical units, each with significant reserves and production. Bab, Bu Hasa and Asab are the largest producing fields, and contribute approximately 80% - 85% of the contract area's oil production. In total there are eleven producing fields and various others at earlier stages of development and appraisal. We hold data for 22 fields within the contract area. The ADCO consortium has rights to the oil production but the fields' gas and associated natural gas liquids (NGLs) production is operated under a separate joint venture.
