Report summaryAkkas is a gas field located in Iraq's western desert in the province of Anbar. A technical service contract to develop Akkas was tendered in the country's third licensing round in October 2010, and was awarded a joint venture KOGAS and KazMunaiGas. Since then, KazMunaiGas has withdrawn from the contract and KOGAS has been developing the asset alone. The occupation of Anbar by the militant group 'Islamic State', IS, has had a detrimental effect on the development, and for the purposes of our analysis, we assume first gas will be delayed until 2021.
