Report summary

In 1995 a private Kazakh company KOR Petroleum was awarded an exploration and production licence for the field. Production began in 2002 and reached a peak of 8 000 b/d in 2008. Output has been in decline since 2011. In 2012 a 41 kilometre pipeline connecting Ashchisai to Kumkol South became operational. As a result two thirds of oil can be exported to China via the Kazakhstan China Oil Pipeline. The remaining oil is transported to the Shymkent refinery where it is sold on the ...
