Asia Pacific upstream M&A watchlist - what, where, who and why
Report summary
Corporate consolidation in Australia has underpinned deal activity with Santos/Oil Search and Woodside/BHP announcing plans to merge in August. Portfolio diversity, financial strength and size are driving these mergers. Nearly US$13 billion (NPV10, 2021) worth of assets are still up for grabs across the region. Portfolio streamlining has brought many assets to the market. But as the energy transition gains traction, many companies will have to either decarbonise or divest. Here we present a snapshot of assets which are already up for sale or rumoured to be.
