Report summary

Balakhany Sabunchi Ramany and Kurdahany are two very mature onshore oil fields in Azerbaijan. After a long period under the operatorship of SOCAR a PSC was awarded in May 2011 to UGE Lanser (Singapore) to rehabilitate the fields and boost production. UGE Lanser aimed to increase production to 5 910 b/d by 2013 which is 150% of aggregate 2009 output. The operator missed this target but continues to invest at the fields focusing on drilling and workovers. For the first four years of the PSC all crude was sold to the domestic market at a fixed price of around US$8/bbl. Since May 2015 UGE Lanser is free to export its crude entitlement. Some volumes are still expected to be supplied to the Baku refineries.
