A Korean-led consortium, headed by Korea National Oil Company (KNOC), operates the Bashenkol oil field in central Kazakhstan. Bashenkol came onstream in 2009 and the field was awarded a full production contract in 2013. It is located close to the Kenkiyak field in Aktobe region.Bashenkol produces from extremely shallow reservoirs, ranging from 300 to 530 metres.
