A Korean-led consortium, headed by Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), operates the Bashenkol oil field in central Kazakhstan. Bashenkol came onstream in 2009 and a full production contract was awarded in 2013. It is located close to the Kenkiyak field in Aktobe region.Oil output peaked in 2014 at almost 4,000 b/d. Bashenkol produces from extremely shallow reservoirs, ranging from 300 to 530 metres. As a result, oil is cold and viscous and requires heating.The field lies in an ...
