The Basrah Gas Project (BGP) is a midstream project to develop associated gas from three oil fields in southern Iraq - Rumaila, West Qurna One and Zubair. These fields produce around 1 bcfd of associated gas although only a fraction of this is produced for commercial ends. The aim of the BGP is to commercialise the flare gas by rebuilding the infrastructure and expanding capacity. The project partners are Iraq's government-owned South Gas Company (SGC), Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation. of a number of 'quick win' facilities to increase gas production.
