Report summaryThe Beykan oil field was discovered by Shell in 1964. It lies in the Diyarbakir district of southeast Turkey and oil is held in a Lower Cretaceous, Mardin limestone reservoir. It was the third and largest of four major discoveries made by Shell in the early 1960s. These became the foundations of Shell's Turkish operation.
