Report summary

Deepwater Block 16 is operated by Maersk Oil & Gas in the Lower Congo Basin. Since becoming operator, Maersk has made three oil discoveries: Chissonga in 2009, followed by Caporolo and Cubal. The block was originally licensed to Shell. However, it relinquished the asset in 1999, after drilling eight non-commercial exploration wells.The proposed Block 16 development would include the Chissonga and Cubal fields.
