Block 20
Report summary
Block 20 is located in the offshore south-central Kwanza Basin, 120 kilometres southwest of Luanda. The block was awarded to Cobalt (operator) and BP in 2011 as part of the 2010/2011 licensing round. The giant Lontra gas condensate field was discovered in 2013 and this was followed by the Orca oil field in 2014. Lontra is the biggest field so far discovered in the pre-salt Kwanza Basin while Orca is the largest oil field.
