2012 was a good year for Canadian M&A - disclosed spend hit a record US$48 billion and over 100 deals were announced. Asian buyers continue to show appetite for large unconventional deals, and Canadian juniors underpin the smaller end of the market. But risks to cost, market access and commodity pricing may be giving some IOCs pause for thought.
