Report summary

The East Ghazalat concession is located in the Western Desert, around 300 kilometres west of Cairo. Vegas Oil & Gas and TransGlobe Energy discovered the Safwa oil field in 2010 and were awarded a development lease in 2011. The Safwa field came onstream in 2012, with oil trucked to facilities at South Dabaa. The field is operated by Petro Safwa, a joint venture between the participants and EGPC as is required under Egyptian law. The low oil price led to a reduced capital budget for 2015 and 2016. The focus for 2016 will be on lower cost workovers, facilities and processing equipment upgrades.
