Report summary

Encana continues to deliver its ‘back to winning’ strategy announced in 2013. A portfolio transition from gas- to liquids-weighted production is ongoing with the sale of Piceance gas assets announced in June for US$735 million. Liquids volumes now account for 40% of total production, up from 35% in Q1 2017. Growth targets for the four core assets have been revised upwards despite capex guidance remaining flat: as costs fall Encana expects to do more with less. The share price was up 1.7% on the day, outperforming the wider energy market as earnings beat consensus estimates.
