Glitne is a small oil field located to the north of the Sleipner fields in the central part of the North Sea. It was developed with a subsea template tied back to Petrojarl 1, a leased floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). When Glitne came onstream in 2001, the field was only expected to produce for up to three years however additional development drilling resulted in production being significantly prolonged.
