Report summary

Harmaliyah was discovered in late 1971, around 25 kilometres east of Ghawar. Production began in late 1973 but the field has been intermittently shut-in and restarted since that time. Since the late 2000s there has been a renewed focus on the redevelopment of Harmaliyah, despite being a relatively small producer compared to the neighbouring Ghawar field. Saudi Aramco has also drilled some unconventional gas wells in the Harmaliyah area but has not started gas production from the field.
