Report summary
On 05 February 2018, Hess announced first production from their Stampede development in US Gulf of Mexico started in January. Stampede was sanctioned in late October 2014 when oil was above US$80/bbl but on the way down. The decision fell under scrutiny as the commodity price continued to plunge but Stampede comes online in the money. Stampede is the first stand-alone development to start-up in over 16 months.
