Indian Oil Corp buys into PETRONAS' LNG project in Canada
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
For Indian Oil, the deal secures a stake in Canadian LNG exports and marks the company's entrance into Canadian oil and gas. The transaction also serves the company's objective of sourcing LNG directly, rather than through an intermediary as it is currently doing. India is a large global LNG buyer ranking fifth globally in terms of LNG market size. We estimate the country's reliance on LNG imports to continue to grow from 1,800 mmcfd in 2012 to 2,300 mmcfd by 2015, and 4,400 mmcfd by 2025.
