Report summary

INPEX has ambitious plans for its upstream portfolio, seeking to double production to one million boe/d by the middle of next decade. The overall success of this objective is intrinsically linked to the delivery of the flagship Ichthys LNG project and extension of key contract licences. We believe the emergence of output from Ichthys will hold aggregate production flat over the medium-term, offsetting contract expiries in Indonesia, Azerbaijan and the UAE. But addressing the shortfall will require a combination of M&A, increasing exploration activity and strategic pivots towards long-life discovered resource opportunities.
