In this section we describe a selection of fields in Italy which are known to have ceased or are very close to depletion. Zone AAntares The Antares gas field was discovered in 1982 and appraised later that year. The field reservoir consists of argillaceous sandstones of Lower Pliocene age, at a depth of around 2,500 metres. Gas was produced from the Porto Corsini Formation.
