Report summaryThe Karakus Area fields lie in the Gaziantep district of Southeast Turkey. Discovered by TPAO in 1988, it was the largest oil field discovered after the major exploration period of the early 1960s. The development of Karakus and the smaller Kuzey Karakus and Guney Karakus fields provided a major boost to Turkey's total oil production.
