Report summary

The Kastel oil field was discovered by a Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) - N.V. Turkse Shell Joint Venture in 1990. The field lies 25 kilometres south of the main South East Turkey oil play and produces a light, sweet crude. In 1995, Perenco, a private French company, acquired N.V. Turkse Shell and all its interests when the Shell Group divested its Turkish upstream business.The Kastel reservoir consists of Lower Cretaceous, Mardin limestones.
