Report summary

Kazakhturkmunai (KTM), a subsidiary of state-owned NC KazMunaiGas (NC KMG), operates six fields in west Kazakhstan. It was originally the first foreign JV in Kazakhstan, established between TPAO (Turkey) and NC KMG. In 2014, TPAO sold its 49% stake to NC KMG for US$205 million. This followed an arbitration case, after Kazakhstan's 2009 Tax Code removed tax stability from KTM's contracts (originally a PSC) and imposed Export Customs Duty and other taxes.Since NC KMG became the sole ...
