Developing the South Lokichar oil fields will require the construction of a heated and insulated pipeline to the coast for export. Following Uganda's decision to build its export pipeline through Tanzania, Kenya will build a standalone pipeline. The route runs approximately 850 kilometres through northern Kenya to an export terminal at the port of Lamu, where the crude will be offloaded by jetty.
