Liza is located in deepwater Guyana and was discovered in 2015 by ExxonMobil on the Stabroek block. Since the discovery, the operator has continued the drilling campaign and has made a total of six discoveries so far: Liza, Payara, Liza Deep, Snoek, Turbot, and Ranger. The first five discoveries were made in the southeast of the block in sandstone reservoirs. Ranger was discovered in January 2018 60 miles to the northwest of Liza, opening a new carbonate play.
