Subba and Luhais are adjacent oil fields, located in the southern province of Basra, about 90 kilometres west of Basra city. Subba lies north of Luhais and extends into Thi Qar province. Luhais was discovered in the 1970s and brought onstream for a few years prior to the Iran-Iraq war, but remained shut-in from 1980 until 1999.
