Mitsui & Co (USA) Inc. is the United States subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Co Ltd. The United States subsidiary operates in six main areas one of which is energy and mineral resources where its consolidated subsidiary is Mitsui E&P USA LLC. In June 2011 Mitsui announced it would purchase a 12.5% net working interest in SM Energy's Eagle Ford Shale assets. This was Mitsui's first purchase in the Gulf Coast region.
