Occidental Petroleum (Oxy) is one of the world's largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies. Within the Lower 48, the company has assets in the Rocky Mountains and Permian. Oxy 's onshore investment has historically been allocated to the Permian, but it acquired the Rocky Mountain properties as part of its acquisition of Anadarko in 2018. In recent years the company has focused on exploring the potential of the Powder River Basin as an emerging growth area.
