Stubb Creek is in southeast Nigeria near the Cameroon border. It was discovered in 1971 but was undeveloped for many years. It was part of OML 14 operated by Shell, but in 2003, it was awarded to indigenous company Universal Energy in a marginal field round. In 2004, Sinopec farmed-into the licence as a technical partner.
