The Penészlek gas field lies in northeast Hungary near the Romanian border, within the Hajdusag sub-basin. The field was discovered in 1982 and produced 4.8 bcf over seven years before it was shut-in.Following redevelopment, production from the PEN-104 well began in August 2008, and at its peak produced up to 3.1 mmcfd of gas.
