Report summary
Petro San Félix (formerly Petroanzoátegui and previously Petrozuata) was the first field brought onstream in the Venezuela's Orinoco heavy oil belt (the Faja). In 2000, the field was integrated to a project involving the extraction and upgrading of extra-heavy oil (XHO) into synthetic crude (syncrude) for export. In 2007, the government brought all contracts in line with the 2001 Hydrocarbon Law, which states that PDVSA must hold a majority interest in each oil project. At ...
