The Tchibouela licence includes the main Tchibouela field and its satellite, Tchibouela Est. Both fields are mature and in decline. The crude is processed at Tchibouela and then piped to the onshore Djeno terminal for export as part of the Djeno Blend. The Tchibouela fields are taxed as part of the larger Pointe Noire Grands Fonds (PNGF) ring fence. Congo is a high-cost operating environment with tough fiscal terms. The oil extracted from the Tchibouela fields is relatively heavy and has a high sulphur content, which increases both the extraction and processing costs.
